Breaking News LIVE, September 2, 2021: Heavy rain hits the National Capital for second day in a row, causing partially waterlogged roads. The India Meteorological Department informed that Thunderstorm with moderate to heavy intensity rain would continue over many parts of Delhi and adjoining areas during the next 02 hours. After a record overnight downpour, the rainfall figures from 8.30 am till 5:30 pm in the national capital on Wednesday were: Safdarjung - 75.15 mm; Palam - 80.6 mm; Lodhi Road - 75.8 mm; Ridge - 52 mm; and Aya Nagar - 45.14 mm -- as per the data provided by the India Meteorological Department ( IMD).
Heavy rainfall since early morning on Wednesday resulted in water logging in many parts of the national capital, causing inconvenience to the commuters. People going for work were stuck on the roads for hours because of water logging and the resultant traffic jams. Many residential colonies were also flooded. Many people using public transports to reach their work places were unable reach the bus stops or Metro stations because of heavy water logging.

Yesterday, Ambassador of India to Qatar, Deepak Mittal on Tuesday met Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the Head of Taliban’s Political Office in Doha to discuss on safety, security and early return of Indian nationals stranded in Afghanistan. During the meeting, Mittal raised India’s concern that Afghanistan’s soil should not be used for anti-Indian activities and terrorism in any manner. The Taliban Representative assured the Ambassador that these issues would be positively addressed, news agency ANI quoted Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as saying.
