Andhra Acid Attack: The victim, Gautami, who runs a beauty parlour on Kadiri Road after completing her degree in Madanapalle, was preparing for her wedding arranged by her family with another man.

Andhra Acid Attack: A youth threw acid on a 23-year-old woman after she rejected his proposal on Valentine’s Day, Friday. The crime took place in Perampalli village of Gurrankonda mandal, leaving the victim, Gautami, with severe injuries. The attacker, identified as Ganesh, a resident of Ammacheruvu Mitta in Madanapalle, has been accused of stalking and harassing Gautami for some time.

Gautami, who runs a beauty parlour on Kadiri Road after completing her degree studies in Madanapalle, was preparing for her wedding scheduled for April 29. She was engaged to Srikanth, a resident of Jagan Colony in Peeleru, and her family had fixed the marriage on February 7. However, Ganesh, who had developed a love for Gautami, allegedly carried out the attack in a fit of rage after she rejected his advances.

On Friday, Ganesh took advantage when Gautami’s parents were away to collect milk. At that time, he entered her home, attacked her with a knife, and then threw acid on her face, causing severe burns and injuries. Gautami was rushed to Madanapalle Government Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment for her critical injuries.

Annamayya district superintendent of police, B Krishna Rao, told PTI that Ganesh (24) from Madanapalle attacked the woman around 7 AM today in Perampalli village, Gurramkonda mandal, while her parents were away tending to cattle.

Ganesh had accepted an invitation to meet her but allegedly had other intentions. The meeting escalated into an argument, during which he reportedly stabbed her multiple times and threw acid on her, the SP said.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has strongly condemned the acid attack on a young woman in Pyarampalli village. He has directed authorities to take strict action against the accused and ensure that the victim receives the best possible medical treatment. The Chief Minister further assured that the government will extend full support to the victim and her family in every possible way.
