DGCA, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said that none of the passengers and crew members were injured and they have begun an investigation into the matter.
The flight was operated using an ATR-72 aircraft. It departed from Delhi at 11:30 AM and landed at the Dumna airport in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh at 1:15 PM. The Dumna airport is 21 Km away from Jabalpur.
Airport director Kusum Das told news agency PTI that the operations at the airport have been suspended for four to five hours.
As per sources, flight number E-9167 sank into the mud lying on the side of the airstrip, due to which the front landing wheel of the aircraft was badly damaged.
AS a precaution, the authorities called an ambulance and a fire brigade on the spot, and the officials from the Airport Authority of India also reached the spot to reassure the passengers of their safety.
Though none of the passengers were injured, the accident led to a panic state among them.
