Air Marshal Sandeep Singh (Retd) To Take Over As National Security Council Military Adviser

During his career spanning over four decades, Air Marshal Sandeep Singh held several key positions in the IAF and played a crucial role in strengthening the country's air defence capabilities.

Former Vice-Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sandeep Singh (Retd) has been appointed as the new Military Adviser in the National Security Council Secretariat.

During his illustrious career spanning over four decades, Air Marshal Sandeep Singh held several key positions in the IAF and played a crucial role in strengthening the country's air defence capabilities.

Air Marshal Sandeep Singh was commissioned into the IAF in 1983 as a fighter pilot. He has flown a wide range of aircraft, including the MiG-21, Su-30 MKI, Kiran, MiG-29, and Jaguar. He has also held several operational and administrative appointments, including command of a fighter squadron, a front-line airbase, and a fighter base. He has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, the Vayu Sena Medal, and the Param Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service.

As the Vice-Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sandeep Singh was responsible for overseeing the IAF's operational readiness and modernization efforts. He played a key role in the acquisition of new fighter jets, helicopters, and other equipment to enhance the IAF's capabilities. He was also instrumental in the IAF's response to the standoff with China in eastern Ladakh, where the IAF played a critical role in supporting the ground forces.

Throughout his career, he held various significant positions, such as being the Project Test Pilot for the Su-30 Project Team in Moscow, Commanding Officer for a frontline Su-30MKI Squadron, Chief Test Pilot at ASTE, Commander of two Flying Bases, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Plans), Commandant ASTE, Senior Air Staff Officer of Eastern Air Command, and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff. Before assuming his current role as VCAS, he served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Air Command.

For his outstanding and commendable services, he has been honoured with several awards, including the Vayu Sena Medal in 2006, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2013, and Param Vishisht Sewa Medal in 2022. Furthermore, he was designated as the honorary Air ADC to the President of India on September 30, 2021. He superannuated on January 31 this year.
