Weeks after getting hacked, BJP's official website back online

The portal went into the "maintenance" mode on March 5 when hackers hit it, wiping out the data.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) website that was hacked almost a month back has come back with a bang, with much better design, user-interface and navigation capabilities. The portal went into the "maintenance" mode on March 5 when hackers hit it, wiping out the data. The message on the BJP website read: "We'll be back soon! Sorry for the inconvenience but we're performing some maintenance at the moment. We will be back online shortly!" If you open it now, the message reads: "Welcome to the world's largest political party". Once you enter, the website is seen brimming with messages like Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of doubling farmers' income by 2022 and other achievements, a BJP Live section streaming rallies, information on upcoming party events and other relevant content. IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad last month admitted that the BJP website was hacked for a few minutes. "There are rogue elements in the society. The site was hacked only for a few minutes. We got back control very soon," Prasad said. While admitting that the site had experienced some sort of "transgression", BJP's IT cell head Amit Malviya had said that the site was down due to a "technical glitch", not hacking. According to ethical cyber hackers, a portal that was "down" for so many days can only be in that mode if the entire coding was being done and content being generated.
