What Is Chingari App?
Just like TikTok, it is a video platform where people can record and share short videos. The app lets you upload videos in more than 20 categories and supports languages including English, Hindi, Bangla, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. According to the app creators, it is "Your hot new stage to set the world on fire with your flaming talent, be creative with WhatsApp status, Videos, Audio clips, Gif stickers, and photos."
How Is It Different From TikTok?
TikTok did not have a monetisation policy. Users would not be paid directly by the app, the way creators on YouTube and Facebook get paid according to views. Chingari pays users based on the views their content generates. If a video goes viral, the creator gets points on the basis of the views attracted. These points can then be redeemed for payment.
Other than video sharing, users can interact with each other, read news updates (both local and international), check the weather forecast, and play games.
How Has TikTok Ban Benefitted Chingari?
After the TikTok ban was announced on Monday, Chingari is witnessing over 1 lakh downloads and over 2 million views per hour. It is also among the top trending mobile application on PlayStore. It is currently at the third spot in the 'Top Free' category.
Meanwhile, the app is facing issues with sudden traction and users are being requested to be patient as the developers working on the server.
