Custom Ducati Monster 797 For Its 25th Anniversary
The Ducati Monster 797 gets the Midas touch from Jaipur-based customization shop Rajputana Customs
To celebrate 25 years of the Monster series, Ducati recently showcased its one-of-a-kind Monster 797. This refashioned bike was built by none other than Rajputana Customs, world-renowned for their unique approach towards creating custom motorcycles. The Monster 797 is the first officially commissioned Ducati to be customized by the Jaipur-based custom shop.
So why is the Monster so special to Ducati, you ask? The bike essentially helped Ducati survive a fairly troubled time, financially speaking, and accounted for over 40 per cent of the bikemaker’s sales in the 90’s. Today, 37 iterations later, the Monster is still going strong and is one of the bestselling naked superbikes in its segment.
For its 25th Anniversary, the Monster 797 gets a one-off custom built fuel tank whose design stays true to the iconic Monster. Then there’s the colour scheme that gives the 797 a very distinct masculine look and feel. Other than this, the bike remains pretty much the same.
It’s still powered by an 803cc, L-twin motor that makes 76PS of power at 8250rpm and a peak torque of 69Nm at 5750rpm, mated to a 6-speed transmission. In terms of features, the Monster 797 gets a fully digital instrument console, flyscreen, under-seat USB charging port, ABS and Ducati’s Multimedia System as an optional extra. That said, the bike does miss out on ride-by-wire, power modes and multi-level traction control in order to cut costs and make the bike more affordable to the masses.
Sergi Canovas, MD of Ducati India, said, “Monster is a bike that has become a cult and has been recognized worldwide with love since its inception for its muscular look with the true aesthetics of a naked bike. Rajputana Customs has done a fabulous job at embodying it with details that are meaningful, giving it a striking look. The Monster 797 in the Rajputana Custom Edizione Speciale looks every bit perfect and serves as the appropriate homage to this iconic motorcycle.”
