Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will meet his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray and NCP chief Sharad Pawar in Mumbai today as part of his campaign against the BJP's alleged anti-people policies.
K Chandrasekhar Rao, also known as KCR, would meet Thackeray, president of Shiv Sena, at his residence in Mumbai at 1 PM and have lunch with him, TRS sources told PTI.
After the meeting with Thackeray, Rao would go to Pawar's residence and discuss national political issues, they said.
On February 13, KCR had said he would soon have meetings with his Maharashtra and West Bengal counterparts, Uddhav Thackeray and Mamata Banerjee respectively, as part of the efforts to unite various political parties against the saffron party and the NDA government.
Significantly, all 117 Assembly seats in Punjab and 59 in Uttar Pradesh are witnessing voting today. Polling in Punjab is being held from 8 am to 6 pm. In Uttar Pradesh, the polling is taking place between 7 am and 6 pm. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
After his Germany visit, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar will hold bilateral talks with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian in Paris today. Indo-Pacific will be discussed prominently in the talks between both countries. At the invitation of Jean-Yves Le Drian, Jaishankar will participate in the European Union Ministerial Cooperation Forum on the Indo-Pacific.
It is an initiative of the European Council under the presidency of France. On the sidelines of the Forum meeting, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar will also hold bilateral talks with his counterparts from the European Union and the countries of the Indo-Pacific region.
In another international development, Russian President Vladimir Putin will dial his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Sunday amid the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to have a telephone conversation with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, on Sunday," Sputnik News Agency reported Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying. "Yes. It is scheduled," Peskov said when asked whether such a telephone call was on the president's schedule.
Tensions have built up in Eastern Ukraine since Russia's build-up of around 150,000 troops just over the border from the Donbas region in the east, in Belarus to the north, and Crimea to the south.
