Royal Enfield’s flagship product, the Interceptor 650, is a retro-modern machine inspired by the vintage bike of the same name in the 1960s. With the motorcycle, Royal Enfield intends to capture the laid-back riding style popular on the Californian beaches. It is likely to enter our shores in November - this year, and looking at the colour schemes on offer, customers will sure have a tough time in choosing one when it does! The bikemaker offers the Interceptor in the following colours: Mark Three (black), Glitter & Dust (chrome), Orange Crush, Ravishing Red, Silver Spectre and Baker Express (white and red).
The Mark Three is essentially a gloss black colour variant. Though the name is interesting, it doesn’t really make the bike stand apart, in our opinion. The Glitter & Dust colour is quite flashy, with dollops of chrome on the fuel tank, complementing the engine and the gearbox casing. Orange Crush on the other hand feels mellowed down while Ravishing Red looks quite sporty. Silver Spectre enhances the retro appeal of the motorcycle while maintaining the elegant flair. It goes well the brushed metal finish of the spoke wheels too.
However, Baker Express would be our favourite colour of the lot. This weirdly- named colour scheme consists of a neatly-finished red layer at the bottom of the white fuel tank. There’s a faint gold pinstripe giving a subtle break between the two colour elements too. This colour scheme goes really well with the contrasting black spoke wheels and black side panels. The powertrain features a brushed metal finish that exudes a retro charm reminiscent of the bikes of the bygone days. This colour scheme is likely to command a premium considering the amount of work involved.
