 Visa Process And Requirements

All foreign nationals, except those from the US, Canada, and the EU, must apply for a visa or Evisa to enter Antigua. Similar to other countries, Antigua offers multiple visa categories to accommodate various travel purposes.

  • Dependent Visa
  • Student Visa
  • Work Visa
  • Visitor Visa
  • Transit Visa

Visitor Visa:

To explore this paradise located approximately 13,000 km away from India, you need to apply for a visitor visa. This visa can be issued for six months with a single entry or for one year with multiple entries. The application process is straightforward and online, but ensure you have the following documents ready before you begin:

Required Documents:

  • Passport valid for at least six months after your intended arrival date.
  • A recent photograph.
  • Supporting documents such as a police record, proof of funds, travel itinerary, return ticket and proof of your accommodation.

Points To Be Noted:

  • You must submit 5 supporting documents, including your passport.
  • You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application and payment immediately.
  • It may take 4-5 business days to receive your eVisa travel letter.
  • You must print your visa letter.

Travel Logistics:

Situated in the Caribbean Sea, this island is the most populous country in the region and is well-connected from the world. With occasional direct flights and numerous connecting flights to the only major airport, VC Bird International Airport, you can reach here in around 20 to 30 hours from Delhi. Flight tickets can range from Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 1,90,000, depending on the airline and seat chosen. While reaching by road is not an option, a cruise vacation can be a luxurious alternative for those seeking a cosy and leisurely trip and have a budget for that.

Antigua being a small island, is perfect for exploration, with every spot reachable within 45 minutes. For an adventurous exploration in a local way, head straight to the bus stand, as Antigua boasts an excellent local bus service. You can also rent cars and taxis, which are quite affordable and have prices maintained by the government. There are no railways and airways for getting from one point to another but cycling is a good option to explore from beach to beach.

Antigua offers a variety of accommodation options to make your trip unforgettable. From seafront villas, B&Bs and resorts to pocket-friendly choices like hostels, dorms, or homestays Antigua has all of it. A charming beachfront stay, where you can surf whenever you want and enjoy a scenic view all day, will make you want to return again and again. Single dorms and rooms range from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000, while double rooms may cost between Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 1,00,000.

The East Caribbean Dollar is the local currency, currently valued at around 31 INR, Though US dollars are widely accepted. You are likely to find better deals if you use local currency. As a top tourist destination, you may find some items or activities overpriced. A week-long trip typically costs around ₹2,50,000, depending on your travel choices. Pre-booked tour packages are a great way to save money.

Antigua is blessed with year-round warm and breezy weather, but the best time to visit is from December to May. During this period, you will encounter several events and fests that create a lively atmosphere. Although prices will be higher during this peak period and if you are looking to save money, August is also a good time when beaches are less crowded, bars and restaurants are free for random bookings, and you might end up attending a ten-day summer carnival, usually held in the late July or early August.

With English as the official language, you will find no barriers to communication.

Must Visit Places:

As Antigua's economy mainly relies on tourism you will find it smoothly working for visitors. Each year Antigua receives lakhs of tourists worldwide and this year due to the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup this number has significantly increased. Renowned as the land of 365 beaches, it will surprise you with stunning coastlines boasting sands of different hues and exciting ferry rides. This destination offers a plethora of adventures, from water sports to hiking, catering to your adventurous spirit. You can head to Half Moon Bay for your morning sunshine and take a dip in the sparkling waters of the Atlantic Ocean. On this white sand beach, you will find people surfing all day long. This water sport is a part of Antigua’s school curriculum, and if it fascinates you as well, then go ahead with your surfing lessons.  You can take a beginner programme of 5 to 7 days. 

Travellers flock to this Caribbean gem for its pristine stretches of sand, and Antigua has a beautiful white-gold shoreline.  Dickenson Bay, Fort James Beach, Hawksbill Beaches, and Pigeon Point Beach are some ideal beaches where you can immerse yourself in the seawater. Here, you can also visit the sugar plantations. Betty’s Hope Sugar Plantation, established in 1650, is the island’s first-ever sugar plantation.
 
You must dedicate a day or two to explore English Harbour, one of the major tourist attractions here. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site, Nelson’s Dockyard and 19th-century buildings with fine historical architecture of the Georgian era.  A visit to the grand museum should be part of your English Harbour Day out. The adjacent national park has more than 11 miles of trails, which is the perfect nature gift to relax your eyes with lush greenery near English Harbour.

You can enjoy zipline tours through the rainforest, fly kites, and go on a cruise tour around the sea for an opulent and amorous vacation.

After adventure sprits to nature lovers this place is heaven for bird watchers. You can head to Wallings Nature Reserve to discover hundreds of bird species nestled among silk cotton trees. Here you will find a diverse flora and fauna captivating nature enthusiasts.
