Raksha Bandhan 2021: Preparations for Raksha Bandhan are being done with a lot of excitement in Agra, the land of the Taj. A special kind of rakhis called Vedic Rakhi is being prepared here. It is said that sisters are going to tie this rakhi to their brothers to protect them from COVID-19.
At Rani Laxmibai Bal Kendra in Agra, these rakhis are being made by young girls who want to protect their brothers from COVID-19 by tying these rakhis on their wrists.
A small bundle is made with 8 items:
In order to make "Vedic rakhi", a small bundle of 8 herbs and spices is initially prepared. Cloves, cardamom, camphor, mace, holy basil giloy, turmeric are filled by hand in a small bundle. This bundle of goodness is what makes the 'Vedic Rakhi' so special. Mamta, a member of the Self Help Group, claims that people in Vedic times used these spices to cure themselves of cold, cough, fever and many other illnesses. This is why the "Vedic Rakhi" contains all these things.
The rakhi is called 'Vedic Rakhi' due to its relevance to various remedies attributed to Vedic times.
