From Lucknow To Lutyens: Abhigyan Prakash's Book Depicting UP Story Of Backwardness & Change Releases Tomorrow

Throwing light on his book, Prakash elucidates how caste, communalism and crime proved to be a stumbling block to the development of the state

New Delhi: If Uttar Pradesh (UP) were a country, it would have been the fifth largest country in the world in terms of population. Since Independence, UP has held an important place in the development of national politics. Uttar Pradesh produces the most number of Members of Parliament (MPs) and has also given the most number of prime ministers to the country.

Despite that, the state has lagged behind in comparison to other states in terms of development.

Encapsulating the picture of how the most powerful state could not rise to new levels of development with time, senior journalist and national affairs expert Abhigyan Prakash of ABP has penned down a book, ‘From Lucknow to Lutyens’.

In his book, Prakash documents how caste, communalism, and crime have proved to be a stumbling block for the development of the state.

Why Is Uttar Pradesh A Backward State?

Abhigyan Prakash, television personality and recipient of several awards, while talking about his book 'From Lucknow to Lutyens', has said that he has tried to present Uttar Pradesh in a new light so that the unversed can understand why the most powerful state in this country, which gave so many prime ministers and political descendants, could not reach the level of desired development.

According to Prakash, it is very important for the readers to understand that the issues (caste, crime, education, etc) that are still ailing UP should have changed already, as it has a direct impact on the country.

Prakash explains in his book that the roads to the national capital pass through UP, so it is important for people to know about this state. Apart from this, this book also depicts in detail what needs to change next, whether it is a matter of caste, communalism, or crime.

Why Education, Employment Are Still Issues Today

Abhigyan Prakash in his book also explains the biggest reason for the backwardness of the state. He has highlighted that the social and political landscape in UP lacks education. According to ‘From Lucknow to Lutyens’, this drawback in such a big state should have been resolved by now. His book also touches on the point that creating more employment opportunities can change the overall scenario of the state.

The book by Abhigyan Prakash will be available to the readers from February 10, and the readers can order the book from this link From Lucknow To Lutyens
