British carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has gone ahead and started manufacturing the Range Rover Velar in India. This has brought down its price substantially and the variant list has also been trimmed down to just one. Land Rover now only offer the R-Dynamic S variant of the Range Rover Velar in India, which is priced at Rs 72.47 lakh (ex-showroom India). The price is the same for both petrol and diesel versions of the one variant. Previously, the same model was brought in through the CBU route at a price of Rs 88.88 lakh (ex-showroom India).
Land Rover is accepting bookings for the Range Rover Velar at all their Indian showrooms and deliveries will begin in May 2019. The petrol engine on offer is a 2.0-litre unit that makes 250PS/365Nm. The diesel engine is also a 2.0-litre unit that makes 180PS/430Nm. Both use a 8-speed automatic transmission to power all four wheels.
The single variant on offer is specced with a Meridian Sound System (380W), four-zone climate control, cabin air ioniser, premium leather in the cabin, LED headlights, LED DRLs, park assist, and more.
In the Indian market, the Range Rover Velar competes with the Jaguar F-Pace, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and BMW X6. The new price cut will definitely give it an advantage over its rivals.
