Pathanamthitta: Two Arrested For Practising Black Magic After Their Video Goes Viral

The issue came to light after the video of the woman performing black magic on a boy in public went viral on social media. 

Chennai: The Pathanamthitta police arrested a woman and her partner for practising black magic using children in public on Thursday. 

The police arrested the woman identified as Shobhana and her partner Unnikrishnan of Malayalappuzha panchayat. 

It all started when a video of a woman performing black magic on a boy in the public went viral on social media. 

The video showed the boy in an unconscious state while performing the ritual. The incident triggered protests with CPI (M), Congress and BJP visiting the place. 

According to ANI, Pathanamthitta Deputy SP said, “A woman occultist, Shobhana alias Vasanti, was arrested in Pathanamthitta for practising black magic using children in public. Her friend Unnikrishnan was arrested too.”

“Case registered on a complaint by a native of Alappuzha. Both have been sent to Police remand,” he said.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Veena George said that they will take strict action against the people for doing such things on children. She also called on to build public awareness against black magic. 

On October 14, three persons including a couple, Bhagaval Singh and Laila, were arrested for murdering, dismembering and burying women as 'sacrifices' for black magic in Kerala. The three persons plotted against the two women with the belief that black magic will bring them wellness. 

The accused Muhammed Shafi who was already accused of rape posed as a godman and was instrumental for the murders. 

Later, the couple buried the body in their home. The godman had also taken money from the couple for organising the sacrifice.
