Kerala: Five RSS Leaders Given Y Category Security Cover In View Of Possible Threats

The Y security cover was provided since officials reportedly found RSS leaders on the radar of the PFI.

Chennai: The Union government accorded Y category security cover to five RSS leaders in Kerala due to possible threats on Saturday. The move has come amid protests and vandalism by members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) after raids at their party office by National Investigation Agency (NIA) this week and a ban on the organization.

In a tweet, PTI said, “Centre accords Y category security cover to five RSS leaders in Kerala in view of possible threats to them: Official sources.”

The CRPF, VIP Security wing, has been entrusted with the work. As per the cover, 2-3 commandos will be provided for each RSS member. The cover was provided since officials reportedly found RSS leaders on the radar of the PFI.

Earlier, the same cover was provided to Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal in the wake of 'Agnipath' recruitment scheme protests in June.

According to Times Now, BJP spokesperson Sandeep Warrier said that the intelligence unit and police told him to remain cautious and remain indoors.

He also said that several RSS leaders are targeted by these groups.
