Kerala: BJP MP KJ Alphons Dismayed Over Rising Radicalisation In State

BJP Rajya Sabha MP KJ Alphons on Saturday claimed that there are districts in Kerala where one feels "like Saudi Arabia" and anti-national thinking originates from a certain dress code.

New Delhi: BJP Rajya Sabha MP KJ Alphons on Saturday claimed that there are districts in Kerala where one feels "like Saudi Arabia" and anti-national thinking originates from a certain dress code. The Rajya Sabha member expressed concern about the growing radicalisation in Kerala.

"In Kerala, we see a radical shift towards radical Islam. It's extremely sad. If you go to some district in Kerala, you would feel as if you are in Saudi Arabia. I don't have a problem with the looks, the problem is the change in attitudes. The kind of anti-national thinking that comes from the dress code," news agency ANI quoted as saying by Alphons.

Talking about Kerala HC directing police to take appropriate action against PFI in connection with the alleged provocative sloganeering, Alphons said, "Finally, the High Court has directed the Kerala government against the organisers. Any person who is an organiser is responsible for whatever happens in the rally. The kid, of course, is a terrorist kid to say the least he and his family also just disappeared."

"Communist government and the Congress government are so dependent on these radical Muslim elements for votes," Alphons added.

Earlier, the BJP leader earlier claimed that Kerala is the "hub of terrorism". "The major recruitment for terrorism is from Kerala," he added.

As it was reported earlier, in the purported video, the minor boy perched on the shoulders of an adult could be heard chanting slogans with the crowd repeating after him. The lines were: "Hindus should keep rice for their last rites, Christians should buy incense for their last rites. If you want to live here, live decently. And if you don’t live decently, we know how to implement azadi (freedom).”

After the police launched a probe, the PFI, in an internal note made available for the media, said such slogans were against the policy of the organisation. "We have given approved slogans which were to be raised in the rally at Alappuzha. Several party workers joined the rally protesting against the RSS."
