According to a report by news agency PTI, while police confirmed the arrest of four people in connection with the incident, Congress sources said that two of the arrested persons were staff of the Wayanad MP’s office, while two others were workers of the party.
As per the report, the Congress had alleged that the photo of Mahatma Gandhi that was hanging on the wall of Rahul Gandhi’s office, was damaged during the vandalism of the Wayanad MP’s office allegedly by SFI activists on June 24.
Indian Youth Congress, in a tweet, had alleged that "the goons held the flags of SFI" as they climbed the wall of Rahul Gandhi's Wayanad office and vandalised it.
According to reports, a group of SFI workers, led by Wayanad district secretary, Jishnu Sasi had allegedly ransacked the office of Rahul Gandhi. The presence of a staffer of Kerala Health Minister Veena George, KR Avishith in the attacking team had led to the Congress alleging that the CPI-M state leadership and the Government of Kerala were behind the attack on Rahul Gandhi's office.
While Veena George claimed that Avishith has been removed from the staff post with effect from June 15, the Congress has alleged that the incident had occurred with the complete knowledge of the minister and the CPI-M state leadership.
