Watch: BBMP Conducts Demolition Drive At Illegal Sites In Bengaluru After Recent Rain Havoc

Days after rains triggered floods and roads submerged under water in Bengaluru, the city's civic body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Tuesday initiated a demolition drive at the illegal constructions of Mahadevapura and several other places.

BBMP has released a list of 15 sites in the Mahadevapura zone comprising IT Parks and developers who have done Storm Water Drain (SWD) encroachment while constructing. All the 15 sites include -- Bagamane tech Park, Purva paradise and others, R.B.D, Wipro, Eco Space, Gopalan (Bellandur), Gopalan (Hoodi), Diya school and others, Gopalan and others (Sonnehalli), Adarsha, Columbia Asia Hospital, New Horizon College, Adarsha Retreat, Epyslon & DivyaShree, Prestige, Salapuria and Adarsha and Nalapad.

Earlier on Tuesday, Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashok asserted that the state government will clear all the pending demolitions before the next monsoon hits the state. All Illegal constructions will be led off on line of Noida twin towers.

On Monday, CM Bommai asserted that the anti-encroachment offensive would be done on a large scale and there has been a demolition driven which was taken out by BBMP on Monday at eight places.

According to news agency PTI, the BBMP identified at least 10 places in the Mahadevapura zone, which were choking the flow of rainwater, including a building, playground and garden of a prominent private school which encroached stormwater drain and the next challenge before the authorities is to raze an elite apartment right next to the school.
