Neha Hiremath Murder Case: Siddaramaiah Questions BJP's 'Moral Right' To Demand CBI Probe

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah questioned whether the BJP had referred any cases to the CBI during their time in power.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah strongly condemned the murder of Neha Hiremath and stated that the case has been handed over to the CID. Stating that he has initiated measures for a fast-track court case, Siddaramaiah said that he personally communicated with Neha's father regarding the actions taken. Responding to BJP's demand to transfer the case to the CBI, Siddaramaiah questioned their moral authority and whether they transferred cases to the CBI during their tenure.

On April 18, Neha Hiremath, daughter of Congress councillor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, was murdered by her previous classmate Fayaz on her college premises.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said, "I strongly condemned the murder and we have already given the case to CID. I have spoken to the public prosecutor for a fast track court case so that justice can be done as soon as possible...I have also spoken to Neha's father and I have conveyed all actions that have been taken."

Further, Siddaramaiah emphasised that there should be no politics involved in the matter and urged the BJP not to exploit it for political advantage. On BJP's demand to handover Neha Hiremath) murder case to CBI, He said, "Did they give any case to CBI when they were in power? What moral right do they have to ask me to give the case to CBI? When I was in power last term, I gave many cases to CBI...There shouldn't be politics in it. A great injustice has happened, I have strongly condemned it. They (BJP) should not use it for political gain."

Meanwhile, on Thursday, CID ADGP Bijay Kumar Singh visited the residence of Neha Hiremath in Hubbali to gather further information from the family members in connection with the case.
