The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted conditional interim bail to Bhavani Revanna, mother of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, in connection with the abduction case linked to the alleged sex video scandal that has gripped the state.
The court's order extends bail to Bhavani Revanna until June 14, with specific conditions attached. She has been directed to appear for investigation on Friday by 1 pm and cooperate fully with the authorities. Additionally, she has been barred from entering her native district of Hassan and KR Nagar taluk in Mysuru district, the hometown of the complainant in the abduction case.
Furthermore, the court has instructed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) not to detain her beyond 5 p.m. during the investigation process.
Former Advocate General and Special Counsel for the SIT, Ravivarma Kumar, emphasised the need for custodial interrogation of Bhavani Revanna in the case. He informed the court that she failed to comply with previous questioning attempts, with SIT officers waiting at her residence in Holenarasipur throughout the day, according to a report on IANS.
Bhavani Revanna stands accused of colluding with individuals involved in the abduction case, allegedly to prevent the arrest of her son, Prajwal Revanna, who is presently in SIT custody. Prajwal Revanna, a former JD(S) MP, has been implicated in the broader scandal that has rocked the political landscape of Karnataka.
Meanwhile, a court in Bengaluru extended the Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former PM Deve Gowda, till June 10. Prajwal is facing charges of rape and sexual abuse against several women. Previously, he appeared before the special court for elected representatives, where on May 31, he was placed in SIT custody until June 6.
