Karnataka: Congress Will Fight Alone In 224 Assembly Constituencies, Says KPCC President DK Shivakumar

Shivakumar said that he does not care who will be the chief minister as his responsibility is to get the Congress victory for the betterment of Karnataka

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar on Thursday asserted that the party is united in the state and said that the assembly elections to be held next year will be fought alone and under collective leadership. He said he was confident that Congress will win more than 135 seats in the 224-member assembly.

Speaking to PTI, he said that he does not care who will be the chief minister as his responsibility is to get the Congress victory for the betterment of Karnataka.

Shivakumar claimed that the BJP government in Karnataka has completely failed on every front and that it is aware that it is not winning the elections, so it is resorting to polarisation.

"From the day I took over as the state president, I am targeting the assembly elections. I can say with full confidence that the double-engine government in Karnataka is not contributing. People also feel that there is no governance in Karnataka and it has become the 'capital of corruption in the country'," Shivakumar said.

On the question related to Siddaramaiah's claim for the chief minister's post, he said, "I don't care much about who becomes the chief minister, who doesn't. I have got the responsibility that I should work for the victory of Congress in Karnataka so that the state can be well and the people can get good governance."
