Wipro declares holiday in view of Karnataka shutdown
Udaipur (Rajasthan)[India], January 25 (ANI): In the wake of a shutdown called by various pro-Kannada groups in Karnataka, Wipro has declared a holiday in its offices across the state on Thursday.
In a statement, the IT giant stated that it was declaring holiday as a 'precautionary measure' to avoid any kind of disruption.
"On account of the shutdown called by various organizations, as a precautionary measure, Wipro Limited has declared a holiday for employees in Karnataka today. Business Continuity Plans have been invoked to avoid disruption to a mission-critical project," Wipro said in a statement.
Meanwhile, a holiday has also been declared for all the schools and colleges in Ballari district on Thursday.
The protesting groups called for the bandh seeking the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the long-standing Mahadayi River water dispute between Goa and Karnataka.(ANI)
