Technical glitches halt Lucknow metro on first day of public launch

On the first day of Lucknow Metro's commercial operations, the train services in Uttar Pradesh's capital city Lucknow came to a halt following technical glitches.

Adityanath and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off the metro's maiden run on a 8.5-km priority corridor from Transport Nagar to Charbagh in the first phase.

It was thrown open to the public on Wednesday.

Adityanath also requested metroman E Sridharan to be the principal advisor to the proposed umbrella body which would explore launching metro services in Varanasi, Kanpur, Agra, Moradabad, Allahabad, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Jhansi and other cities.

The train was stuck for half an hour at Alambagh satation creating panic among the commuters.
