RSS worker death: Kerala DGP assures impartial probe

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), July 30 (ANI): The Kerala Director General of Police (DGP) Loknath Behera on Sunday assured impartial probe will be conducted into the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker death case and said that strong and firm action will be taken against the culprits.

A 34-year-old RSS leader was murdered in Kozhikode on Saturday night. The police have so far detained eight people in connection with this case. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Communist Party of India- Marxist [CPI-M]-led LDF government in Kerala for the killing of RSS leader.

Talking to the media here, DGP Behera said, "As we are handling the law and order situation in the city, absolutely there will no problem. There is nothing to panic as we have put the people at the very sensitive places. We have acted impartially as maximum persons have been picked up from various political dispositions. There is nothing to worry, we are there, we will be doing our best and our action will be very strong and firm against the accused."

Behera further informed that there is no complaint of any person is being terrorised or put under any pressure so far.

"We are cautious. I just want to say that we have acted for the last three days on whatever incident has taken place. I have personally taken a decision; henceforth this hooliganism will not go one step further. Not only we will book these persons under the various provisions of the particular act, we will also use the other security and preventive proceedings against them," he said.

The Kerala DGP also apprised about 'Gundaquad' (anti-goon squad) in the city, which has not been used for quite some time.

"Now, I have asked them to revive the 'Gundasquad'. So, tomorrow onwards we will take a very strong action against these people."

The BJP has blamed the CPI-M for carrying out the attack.

Speaking to ANI, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that the ruling party (CPI-M) is definitely behind the death of the RSS worker.

"They (CPI-M) celebrate after killing RSS people. They are mad people sitting in power and doing things like these."

He further demanded that the Central government should dismiss this government.

BJP member Sudesh Verma added that this is not the first incident of political violence in Kerala, where a RSS or BJP worker has been killed.

"Hundreds of workers have been killed, we have been raising these issues but the so called- liberal and progressive forces in this country don't condone this because it is happening against our members," Verma said. (ANI)
