PM Modi congratulates President Kovind for completing one year

New Delhi [India], July 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated President Ram Nath Kovind for completing one year in office.

Taking to his Twitter handle, the Prime Minister praised Kovind for being passionate about empowering the marginalized section of the society.

"Congratulations to Rashtrapati Ramnath Kovind Ji on completing 1 year in office. He's endeared himself to every Indian with his wisdom and humility. He is extremely well versed in key policy issues. Rashtrapati Ji is also passionate about empowering the youth, farmers & poor," Modi wrote.

Kovind, who took over as India's14th president on July 25 last year, is a lawyer by profession and has worked extensively in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

He was appointed as the Governor of Bihar on August 8, 2015 and was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh during the two terms of 1994-2000 and 2000-2006.

Kovind also represented India in United Nations (New York) and addressed the UN General Assembly in October 2002. (ANI)
