More Trouble For Pakistan: 'Pak's Status As Privileged Ally In Question,' Says US

Talking tough, President Donald Trump on Tuesday hit out at Pakistan for providing safe havens to "agents of chaos" that kill Americans in Afghanistan and warned Islamabad that it has "much to lose" by harbouring terrorists.

Interestingly, Pakistan is one of 16 countries to currently enjoy "Major Non-NATO Ally" status. It is not a mutual defense pact like the Atlantic alliance, but allows close military cooperation.

Uncle Sam has some leverage, in terms of aid, Pakistan's status as a non-NATO alliance partner, Tillerson said on Tuesday and added all of that can be put on the table.
