Kurnool blast: Rs.5lakh ex-gratia announced for kin of deceased

Amravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 4 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the families of those killed in the blast which took place in Kurnool on Friday.

Furthermore, Naidu ordered an inquiry into the blast and asked the deputy chief minister and the mining minister to monitor operations at the spot.

He also asked the District Collector to assist the ones injured and affected with all the amenities.

At least 10 people died in a massive blast that took place on Friday night at a stone quarry in Kurnool's Hathi Belgal.

Five more people, who were labourers working at the site, got injured and were rushed to Aluru Government Hospital for treatment. However, one among them succumbed to injuries.

The fire that broke out in the quarry reportedly spread to the nearby area and burnt three tractors, one lorry and two sheds to ashes.

A case was subsequently registered under Section 304 part-2 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Sections 3 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act.

Kurnool Superintendent of Police (SP) said the matter is being investigated, and accused will soon be arrested. (ANI)
