RBI report on demonetisation angers Opposition, “Was it a scheme to convert black into white” asks Chidambaram

Months after government’s major move of demonetization which was taken to eradicate black money, RBI report on the amount of demonetized notes has spurred a row. (All images: PTI)

As per a demonetization report by RBI, 89 mn out of 6.7 bn Rs. 1,000 notes not returned after demonetization.

Clarrifying on RBI report, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, “Not necessary that the money that came back was legitimate money, that is why lakhs of people have been put on notice”
