Ideas Of India 2025: Three women in science took centre stage at the fourth edition of ABP Network Ideas of India as they discussed "The Frontiers of Science: Knowing the Unknown". Dr Pratima Murthy, Director of NIMHANS, Dr Shubha Tole, Neuroscientist and Prof at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, and Dr. Jahnavi Phalkey, Founding Director of Science Gallery Bengaluru, come together for a panel discussion moderated by ABP News's Megha Prasad and dwelt upon different frontiers of science.

Replying to a question on the status of the health of mental health in India today, Dr Pratima Murthy said: "One in 10 people in the country suffers from a diagnosable mental disorder. Globally, it's about one in five people. And when you look at the number of people with psychological distress, it's much more. The most important thing is for us to be aware that mental health disorder is like any other disorder...and it's important to get help for that."    

Asked if research is an option for everybody, the second guest on the panel, Dr Shubha Tole, said: "This is probably the best kept secret that we scientists need to share with everybody that people who haven't had the privilege of doing research think it's this alien thing for specialists, and worse they think it narrows you down... Nothing could be farther from the truth. Research opens your mind to all possibilities..."        

To a question if science is for everybody, Dr. Jahnavi Phalkey said: "Science is for everybody, not only because it infiltrates into every single thing we do today, citizens are expected to take decisions in the day-to-day life, based on information they do not know how to access. So, science is for everybody..."
