Ideas of India 3.0: Will Go To SRK 'When I Have Cracked Something Better Than Jawan'; Atlee on Working With Him Again
Atlee spoke about working with Shah Rukh Khan again, how he loves the megastar and why his screen presence is unmatchable at ABP Network's Ideas of India Summit 2024.
New Delhi: Tamil director Atlee Kumar may be the biggest filmmaker of 2023, after delivering a blockbuster like 'Jawan', but the filmmaker is only and all praises for megastar Shah Rukh Khan whom he calls the 'best person ever' and 'the biggest superstar of the country'.
The third edition of the 'Ideas Of India Summit', an ongoing series of events organised by ABP Network, began today, February 23, with Day 1 of the engaging summit. Notable people from an array of fields will be there during the two-day event.
'Jawan' director Atlee was among the many celebs who joined the conclave. In his session titled 'How to make a blockbuster', Atlee spoke about his successful filmography; the hit films he's been directing down South and now in Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan'.
In a session moderated by Radhika Bajaj, Atlee spoke about 'Jawan', his journey as a film director, his upcoming Hollywood project and superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Here are excerpts of Atlee's conversation about Shah Rukh Khan.
On How To Make A Blockbuster In A Language Atlee Does Not Know
Atlee answered, "Movies are not bounded by languages. Movies are art. It's love. Definitely language does not become a barrier to create something you really love doing. Even when I am not familiar with the language Hindi, I could make what I wanted to make. Whatever I wanted to emote, I made it in my film and I feel 'Jawan' is the biggest hit all over. And, I have UAE fans who do not know Hindi, have Hollywood fans who do not know Hindi, so its about the feelings."
On Working With Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan
"I love all his films, 'DDLJ', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Om Shanti Om', 'Chennai Express', I can go on and on. One thing I love about him is that his screen presence is unmatchable. He is a face of Indian cinema to the world. So, it is a dream to work with Mr. Shah Rukh sir. Fortunately, I got to do that in my fifth film. God has been kind and I think I ahve justified that."
On Making A Film With SRK Again
Atlee was also asked about working with Shah Rukh Khan again to which the director said 'Ofcourse, definitely I will crack a subject better than Jawan and I will go to him for sure. I will narrate it, if he likes, definitely it will happen. I know he loves me alot... he is something else. He is always an energy to go. He is the best man I have seen in my life. Thank you Shah Rukh sir. I will come to you once I crack something great than 'Jawan'. I will definetly come to you."
