After Rockstar Games, Insomniac Falls Victim To Massive Data Leak: Release Timeframe Of Wolverine, Venom Games Out Now

An untitled Marvel’s X-Men game is also anticipated in FY 2030, with an unannounced new IP expected between FY 2031-2032.

Insomniac Games, the star developer under PlayStation Studios behind games such as Ratchet & Clank and Marvel's Spider-Man. experienced a ransomware attack perpetrated by the hacking group Rhysida. The group threatened to unveil confidential material unless their ransom demands were met. Subsequently, Rhysida has now disclosed its findings, revealing an extensive Marvel-focused gaming roadmap from Insomniac Games for the next decade.

According to the leak, Insomniac Games is actively working on six upcoming titles, each with its expected release timeframe. "Marvel’s Venom" is slated for launch in FY 2025, followed by "Marvel’s Wolverine" in FY 2026. "Marvel’s Spider-Man 3" is scheduled for release in FY 2028, while an untitled Ratchet & Clank game is projected for FY 2029. Looking further ahead, an untitled Marvel’s X-Men game is anticipated in FY 2030, with an unannounced new IP expected between FY 2031-2032.

Of these titles, only one has been officially announced, sparking intrigue within the gaming community. Speculation regarding a secret Venom game had been circulating, prompted by comments from Tony Todd, the character's voice actor, suggesting unused dialogue in Spider-Man 2. The leaked details are traced back to an internal presentation from July of this year, but it's crucial to recognise the fluid nature of game development plans, with release timelines subject to change.

The leak also divulges a significant decision by Insomniac Games to prioritise the release of a Venom game in 2025 over a Director’s Cut of Spider-Man 2. Concept art for the new Ratchet & Clank game, released alongside the leak, hints at an intergalactic adventure.

Interestingly, the leak omits any mention of a Spider-verse game, a topic hinted at in previous discussions. This leak underscores PlayStation's strategic dependence on Insomniac Games as a pivotal player in the Marvel gaming landscape.

As Marvel's cinematic universe faces challenges, the gaming sector appears poised for unprecedented success, with this leak elevating the count of known Marvel superhero games from five to eight. Microsoft is also entering the Marvel realm, with reports suggesting Arkane Lyon is developing an Xbox-exclusive Blade game.

Drawing parallels with recent leaks affecting major video games, like screenshots from Naughty Dog’s cancelled The Last of Us game and the extensive GTA VI leak last year, the gaming industry continues to grapple with information breaches. Notably, the leaked data does not refer to the alleged PS5 Pro console, raising questions about its development or existence. Despite the absence of PS5 Pro details, the leak does mention a PC version of the Wolverine game, although its release remains a distant prospect.
