Gotham Knights: Release Date, PC System Requirements, Gameplay, Price, More
Gotham Knights will not be available for PS4 and Xbox One players upon launch.
Gotham Knights is set to release later this week. The upcoming action RPG from WB Games Montréal — the same studio behind the underrated Batman: Arkham Origins — sets up an interesting premise. Bruce Wayne is dead. So, the responsibility for Gotham’s safety now lies on the extended Bat-family — specifically Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood — as the team must fight back against the evil secret society called Court of Owls in the absence of Batman. From the game’s release date to its unique gameplay, here’s everything you need to know about Gotham Knights.
Gotham Knights: Release date, platforms
Gotham Knights is set to release on October 21. For console users, it should be noted that Gotham Knights will only be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. There’s no word on a PS4 or Xbox One availability yet. Of course, PC users can purchase Gotham Knights via Steam and Epic Games.
Gotham Knights: Price
Gotham Knights will be available in two editions: Standard and Deluxe.
Priced at Rs 2,999 for PC and Rs 4,399 for consoles, Gotham Knight Standard Edition offers the base game as well as a 233 Kustom Batcycle skin.
Gotham Knights Deluxe Edition is priced at Rs 3,999 for PC and Rs 5,999 for consoles. Along with the base game and the custom vehicle skin, the Deluxe Edition also comes with a Visionary Pack, which includes special perks and supersuit variants, including a “Knightwatch by Jim Lee” set as well as a special suit style inspired by “Batman Beyond”.
Gotham Knights: System requirements
As per Steam, the minimum PC system requirements for Gotham Knights include:
OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K (3.7 GHz) | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (3.60 GHz)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti | AMD Radeon RX 590
RAM: 8GB
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 45GB
Recommended PC system requirements:
OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K (3.8 GHz) | AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (3.7 GHz)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 | AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
RAM: 16GB
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 45GB
It should be noted that if you’re playing the game on consoles, you won’t be able to access a 60fps performance mode for Gotham Knights, as the framerate for console versions is locked at 30fps. This is particularly strange because the main draw for buying a PS5 or an Xbox Series X/S is the ability to enjoy games at 60fps or even more. Given the flak that the developers received since the news of the framerate lock came to light, it can be expected that the 60fps mode could be enabled in a post-launch update. But no such announcement has been made so far.
Gotham Knights: Gameplay
Gamers will get to step into the superboots of Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood, each of whom will bring their own unique style of combat and traversal. It should be noted that these four characters will play very differently, and not appear as just changed skins. Gotham City remains an open world, just like the preceding games in the franchise.
Staying true to its RPG roots, Gotham Knights will allow players to upgrade the skills and abilities of their characters, along with their appearance as well.
While the entire game can be enjoyed solo, Gotham Knights also supports a two-player coop mode, allowing quick drop-ins and drop-outs during missions. In November 2022, Gotham Knights will introduce the ‘Heroic Assault’ mode that would allow four players to engage in coop combats against hordes of enemies.
Going by the trailers, the overall gameplay looks similar to the earlier Batman games, where stealth, skillful use of gadgetry, and hand-to-hand combat play a central role.
