'Taarak Mehta' Writer Abhishek Makwana Dies By Suicide; Family Claims He Was Victim Of Cyber Fraud

'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' writer Abhishek Makwana was reportedly found hanging at his flat last week. A suicide note was recovered from his house.

New Delhi: Abhishek Makwana, who was one of the writers of Sony SAB's 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah', reportedly died by suicide last week. Makwana's family has alleged that he became a victim of cyber fraud and blackmail. According to a report in a leading daily, the writer was found hanging at his flat in Mumbai on November 27. A suicide note was recovered from his place, which mentioned that he was facing 'financial troubles'. Abhishek's family also claimed that they have received threatening calls from fraudsters after his death. They added that the people demanded that they pay back the money which Makwana allegedly took from them. Abhishek's brother Jenis, while talking to the daily, said that Makwana's email records revealed the fraud. He added that he received multiple calls from different people, who demanded him to return the money Abhishek allegedly owned. "I checked my brother’s mails because ever since he passed away, I got multiple phone calls from different numbers demanding to be paid back loans he owed someone. One call was a number registered in Bangladesh, one in Myanmar and others were from different states of India," Jennis told Mumbai Mirror. A case has been registered at Charkop police station and investigation is being carried out into Abhishek's financial transactions. His family members have reportedly provided the details of the phone numbers to the police officials.
