New Delhi: Amid the on-going Russia-Ukraine war, several diplomats and celebrities have expressed their views, condemning the catastropic event and praying for the well-being of innocent lives, suffering at the hands of the war. The latest to shed light on the ghory details of the war is actress Priyanka Chopra.
The actress, who is also UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, urged fans to assist the people of Ukraine in these trying times. Taking to her social media, Priyanka shared a video that shows the present plight of Ukrainian citizens, and how they have been living 'in fear of their lives and the lives of their loved ones'.
Sharing the video on her Instagram, she wrote, "The situation unfolding in Ukraine is terrifying. Innocent people living in fear for their lives and the lives of their loved ones, while trying to navigate the uncertainty of the immediate future."
She also shared that it's difficult to comprehend the fact that an incident could escalate to such a catastrophic point, in the modern world.
She added further, "It’s difficult to comprehend how in the modern world this could escalate to such a catastrophic point, but this is a consequential moment that will reverberate around the world. Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan tweeted, "#IncreaseThePeace."
Actor-director Farhan Akhtar also took to his twitter and shared his thoughts. He wrote, "Thoughts with Ukraine...may better sense prevail and peace be restored as soon as possible."
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the military operation on Ukraine via televised speech on Thursday, February 24.
