Oscar Nominations 2023: RRR Fails To Get Nods For Best Picture And Best Director Category
Much to many fans’ displeasure, ‘RRR’ has only been nominated in one category, Best Original Song, for which it also won a Golden Globe.
New Delhi: After the Golden Globes Win for ‘RRR’, many had been anticipating the film’s chances at the Oscars 2023 in the Best Song and Best Film category. On Tuesday evening, the 95th Academy Awards nominations were announced. Given that we have not one, but three Oscar contenders this year, India has a fair stake in the Academy Awards.
However, there has been quite some confusion around the categories in which SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ has been nominated.
Much to many fans’ displeasure, ‘RRR’ has only been nominated in one category, Best Original Song, for which it also won a Golden Globe.
'All That Breathes', a documentary by Shaunak Sen, has been nominated for the Best Documentary Oscar at the 2023 Academy Awards after receiving a BAFTA 2023 nomination. Also, the Netflix documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers' from India has been nominated for Best Documentary Short.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

Meanwhile, ‘RRR’ has created history with the nomination in this category as it is the first time an Indian film has been nominated for its music.
