Sooryavanshi Domestic Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar's Film Crosses Magical Rs 100-Cr Mark On Day 5

Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi has earned over Rs 100 crore within five days of release at the domestic box office. It is his fifteen movie to enter the Rs 100 crore club.

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has managed to set the cash registers jingling with his latest release ‘Sooryavanshi’. The action drama co-starring Katrina Kaif, which arrived in the cinema halls on November 5, has raked in big moolah at the box office. The Rohit Shetty directorial has proved to be the perfect Diwali gift for the Hindi film industry as it has crossed the Rs 100-crore mark within five days of release. 

Sooryavanshi Enters Rs 100-Crore Club

‘Sooryavanshi’ started on an impressive note, emerging as one of the biggest openers in recent times. The movie minted over Rs 26 crore on its first day at the domestic box office. Khiladi Kumar’s magic worked wonders for the film as it added another Rs 11.22 crore on Tuesday (November 9), taking the total collection to Rs 102.81 crore. 

Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of ‘Sooryavanshi’ on social media. He revealed that the much-awaited flick has earned significant numbers in the Gujarat and Maharashtra circuits and is eyeying to cross Rs 120 crore mark in its first week. 

"#Sooryavanshi is Hundred points symbol NOT OUT… Continues to attract substantial footfalls even on weekdays, especially in #Maharashtra and #Gujarat… Eyes ₹ 120 cr [+/-] total in *Week 1*… Fri 26.29 cr, Sat 23.85 cr, Sun 26.94 cr, Mon 14.51 cr, Tue 11.22 cr. Total: ₹ 102.81 cr. #India biz," Adarsh tweeted.

'Sooryavanshi' was originally supposed to hit the silver screens in March 2020. However, the film got delayed twice due to the COVID-19 crisis. While several producers released their projects on OTT platforms, the makers of 'Sooryavanshi' decided to stick with a theatrical release. As expected, the gamble turned to be fruitful as the film has performed reasonably well.

 Trade pundits are hopeful that Sooryavanshi's success will help in reviving the theatrical business. The film industries across different states have been severely affected as movies didn't release due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Ajay-Ranveer's Special Appearance Excites Audience

Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprised their respective roles of Singham and Simba in Rohit Shetty's 'Sooryavanshi'. Their special appearance is one of the main highlights of the film, which is expected to enter the Rs 200 crore club.
