After Sikandar Debacle, Salman Khan To Portray Indian Army Hero In War Drama Inspired By 2020 Galwan Clash

Bollywood megastar Salman Khan may soon be donning the uniform of an Indian Army officer in a hard-hitting war drama inspired by real events. As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, the actor is in advanced talks to headline a film based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers—a significant moment in recent military history that left a lasting national impact.

Salman Khan's next project to be war drama?

The project is expected to be helmed by Apoorva Lakhia, known for gritty narratives like Shootout at Lokhandwala. The idea reportedly took shape after producer Jordy Patel introduced Lakhia to Salman Khan. The director had already secured the rights to India’s Most Fearless 3, a bestselling book by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh that documents true stories of Indian military valour. One particular chapter—the Galwan Valley confrontation—resonated deeply with Salman.

“Salman is excited by the thought of playing an army officer in a film set against the backdrop of the Galwan Valley battle of 2020. He is seriously considering this as a follow-up to Sikandar, and if all goes well, the film will go on floors in the second half of 2025,” a source revealed.

The report adds that Salman is keen to collaborate with fresh creative voices, having reportedly turned down pitches from regular collaborators like Kabir Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar. In addition to Salman in the lead, the war drama is said to feature four other prominent actors.

Sikandar Debacle

Salman was last seen in Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, where he portrayed Sanjay “Sikandar” Rajkot—a righteous man driven by action and integrity. Despite a star-studded cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar, the film received a mixed response from critics and audiences alike.
