New Delhi: Kader Khan, an actor, director, screenwriter and a dialogue-writer, left the mortal world for his heavenly abode, dealing an irreparable loss to Indian film industry. As the nation mourns the death of one of its finest character artist, here are ten things to know about him.
  • Kader Khan was born in Kabul, Afghanistan.
  • He was introduced to the Indian cinema by Dilip Kumar.
  • It is reported that Kader Khan took the citizenship of Canada and was living in Canada in the final years of his life.
  • Khan aced villainous roles and comedy with great ease and comfort.
  • He enrolled in a local municipal school and later in the Ismail Yusuf College after which he obtained a Master's Diploma in Engineering (MIE) from the Institution of Engineers (India) specialising in Civil engineering.
  • Khan has also written dialogues for over 250 movies. The iconic dialogue by Amitabh Bachchan in the film Kaalia “Hum Jahan Khade Hote Hain, Line Wahin Se Shuru Hoti Hai’, was crafted by him.
  • As a screenwriter, Khan frequently collaborated with Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra. His films with Desai include Dharam Veer, Ganga Jamuna Saraswati, Coolie, Desh Premee, Suhaag, Parvarish and Amar Akbar Anthony, while his works with Mehra include Jwalamukhi, Sharaabi, Lawaaris, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar among others.
  • He got Filmfare Best Comedian Award for Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri.
  • He was nominated ten times for Filmfare’s best comedian award. In 2013, he got Sahitya Shiromani Award for his work and contributions to Hindi Film industry and Cinema.
  • Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan wrote in his tweet that Khan (very few would know) was a mathematician also.
