Hrithik Roshan Vs Kangana Ranaut 2016 Imposter Case FIR Transferred To Crime Branch, Actress Responds
Following a request by Hrithik's lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani to the Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, the case will now be probed by CBI.
Mumbai: The Mumbai Police on Monday transferred an First Information Report (FIR) filed by actor Hrithik Roshan in 2016 of stalking and impersonation, from Cyber Cell to the Crime Branch. While lodging the complaint against an unknown person, Hrithik had said the accused was allegedly speaking with actress Kangana Ranaut on his behalf from an email ID. Following a request by Hrithik's lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani and Gunjan Mangla to the Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, the case will now be probed by the elite Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Crime Branch.
As per reports, the case was registered by Hrithik against unknown people under section 419 of IPC r/w 66 C and D.
The action by Mumbai Police comes after Jethmalani wrote a letter to the commissioner of Mumbai stating that there had been no progress in the investigative case.
"We write to you on behalf of our client Mr. Hrithik Roshan. Our client lodged a FIR bearing C.R.No.78/ 2016 dated 23.05.2016, with the cyber crime police station against unidentified individuals for offenses punishable under sections 419 IPC r/w. sections 66(c) and 66 (d) of the IT Act. A copy of the FIR is attached herewith for ease of reference. Our client co-operated with the investigation and handed over his electronic devices. It is pertinent to state that inspite of an order dated 30.11.2016, passed by the Ld. Magistrate, Esplanade Court, directing return of our client's laptop and phone he has not collected the same as he wanted to assist the police reach the real culprits who had impersonated him," Jethmalani's letter to Mumbai Commissioner read.
"Pursuant thereto, a complaint dated April 07, 2017 was also filed with the cyber crime police station. In the said complaint the immense harassment and stalking caused to our client has been detailed at length. A copy of the said complaint is hereto attached for ease of reference. Our client handed over all the relevant documents viz copies of all the emails, his passport, etc," the letter read further.

Kangana's Reaction to the development
Soon after the news started making headline, Hrithik's ex-girlfriend and actress Kangana Ranaut took to Twitter and mocked the actor stating that his sob story starts again.
"His sob story starts again, so many years since our break up and his divorce but he refuses to move on, refuses to date any woman, just when I gather courage to find some hope in my personal life he starts the same drama again," Kangana tweeted.
In the past, the police forensic experts could not ascertain any facts about the email ID which was located in the US and hence filed a nil report in June 2017.
Hrithik's lawyers, in his letter, also pointed out that despite the Magistrate's order directing the police to return the actor's laptop and mobile phone submitted for the probe, he had not collected it yet to enable the police complete the probe and catch the real culprit.
