Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan marked sister Karisma Kapoor’s 51st birthday with a moving post on Instagram. Sharing a candid picture of Karisma alongside her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, Kareena celebrated the special day while acknowledging the emotional weight surrounding it—following the recent passing of Karisma's ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Kareena posted a photo featuring Karisma and Saif, with a caption that read, "This is my most favourite picture of you both (heart emoji)... To the strongest and the bestest girl in the universe… It’s been a tough year for us”.

A time of personal trials for Kareena and Karisma

The birthday post comes at a sensitive time for the Kapoor family. Earlier this year, Kareena’s husband, Saif Ali Khan, survived a life-threatening attack at his Bandra residence in the early hours of January 16. The actor sustained multiple stab wounds from an intruder and underwent a five-hour emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, where doctors had to remove a piece of the knife from his body. Saif was discharged on January 21 and has since been recovering.

Sunjay Kapur, Karisma’s former husband, died while playing polo in London on June 12. Kareena and Saif have since been a steady presence by Karisma’s side. The couple was seen accompanying her to Delhi for the last rites and prayer service, offering strength and solidarity during a period of profound loss.
