Dhanashree Verma Says Neha Kakkar's 'O Sajna' Is 'Even Better' Than Falguni Pathak’s 'Maine Payal Hai Chhankai'

New Delhi: Neha Kakkar’s latest song ‘O Sajna’, which is a recreation of Falguni Pathak’s ‘Maine Payal Hai Chhankai’ has been getting trolled ever since its release. The song got a huge backlash as most of the netizens feel the recreated version has ruined the original. Falguni Pathak too has expressed her displeasure about the song. She went on a reposting spree on Instagram and shared all the posts criticising the song.
Dhanashree Verma and Priyank Sharma, who are the lead cast of the music video with Neha Kakkar have defended the song. Dhanashree has called ‘O Sajna’ better than the original version while Priyank believes the new song has justified the original.
"We all love this song. We have grown up listening to this song. We still listen to this song every year. When we found out it is being recreated we both got very excited because we know the song is loved by everyone and it will be loved even further if you recreate it. The way our composers Tanishk (Bagchi) Neha, and Jaani, all these guys together, they just made it even better. They have amply justified what they had to," Dhanashree told Mid-day.
"The first time I heard this song, it took me exactly 45-50 seconds to say yes. It's an iconic song already and the way they have made it again is commendable. They justified the iconicness of the previous one for real. I was very excited," Priyank was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.
Earlier, in a conversation with Delhi Times Falguni talked about the song and said, “I got to know about the remixed version three-four days back. The first reaction was not good. I was like, mujhe bas ulti aani baaki thi, aisa ho gaya tha. (I was about to puke, it was like that).”
Interestingly, Falguni and Neha will be seen together on an episode of Indian Idol 13. Sony TV has shared a promo of the upcoming episode of Indian Idol in which Neha Kakkar welcomes ‘legendary Falguni m’aam’ as they begin the theatre round with a garba night. Falguni goes on to sing garba songs and all the judges Neha Kakkar, Himesh Reshammiya, and host Aditya Narayan play dandiya around her.
There are reports that this special episode was shot before the whole fiasco.
