New Delhi: Amidst the alleged video leak incident at Chandigarh University, actor Sonu Sood has reacted to the entire incident and called it ‘very unfortunate and said that it was time everyone stood by the victims.

Taking to Twitter, the actor wrote, “Something that happened in Chandigarh University is very unfortunate. It’s time for us to stand with our sisters and set an example of a responsible society.”

A massive protest broke out late Saturday at Chandigarh University in Punjab's Mohali after objectionable videos of girl students living in a hostel on the campus were allegedly leaked online. It was one of the girls living in the university hostel who allegedly shot the videos and sent them to a man who uploaded them on the internet. The incident allegedly involves the leaking of private videos of 60 girls from the university online.

In the latest development, Chandigarh University issued a statement saying that all the rumors of objectionable videos shot of other girl students are "totally false and baseless."

"All the rumors of objectionable videos shot of other girl students are totally false and baseless. No videos were found of any student which are objectionable except a personal video shot by a girl which was shared by her with her boyfriend," Chandigarh University stated, as quoted by news agency ANI.

After the Mohali Police denied any suicide attempt, the University too said: "There are rumours that 7 girls have committed suicide whereas the fact is that no girl has attempted any such step. No girl has been admitted to hospital in the incident."

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has said that a high-level inquiry has been ordered and appealed to all to avoid rumours.

"Saddened to hear about the incident pertaining to Chandigarh University... Our daughters are our pride... A high-level inquiry has been ordered into the incident. Whoever is guilty will face strict action... I am in constant touch with the administration... I appeal to all of you to avoid rumours...," he wrote in a tweet in Hindi.
