New Delhi: Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has faced criticism following the circulation of a video where she's accused of spreading misleading information about liver 'detox' on social media. Dr Cryiac Abby Philips, known as Liver Doc on X, expressed disapproval towards the actress for featuring what was referred to as 'random' and 'illiterate' health advice on her podcast. 

The contentious clip from the podcast, recently shared, involved a discussion on the benefits of herbs like dandelion for liver health. The user who posted the clip remarked, "This is Samantha Ruth Prabhu, a movie star, misguiding over 33 million followers on 'detoxing the liver." 

Labelling the podcast guest as 'illiterate' in health matters, the user criticised, “The podcast features some random health illiterate “Wellness Coach & Performance Nutritionist” who has absolutely no clue how the human body works and has the most rubbish content on his Instagram handle, including complete nonsense such as herbs to manage autoimmune disorders.” 

This is Samantha Ruth Prabhu, a film star, misleading and misinforming over 33 million followers on "detoxing the liver."

Liver Doc identified himself as a liver specialist with a decade of experience, dismissing the claims made in the podcast as "complete and utter nonsense." 

“I am a liver doctor, a trained and registered hepatologist diagnosing and treating liver disease patients since one decade and this is complete and utter BS,” he wrote. 

He further wrote, "Dandelion, is a vegetable that most people consider a weed. It is sometimes used as a salad green. Dandelion can be used in salad. About 100 g of dandelion provides about 10-15% of your daily potassium requirements, at little to no caloric intake.” 

The post ignited responses from social media users, with one remarking, "All it takes is a polished presentation and fluent English to 'enlighten' people about anything." Another urged celebrities to be vigilant about the content they endorse. 

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who disclosed being diagnosed with myositis last year, was last seen alongside Vijay Deverakonda in Kushi.
