Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt Asks Paparazzi To Not Click Daughter Raha’s Pictures: 'My Worst Nightmare Is...'
Following the attack on Saif Ali Khan at his residence earlier this year, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have requested the paparazzi to refrain from photographing their daughter, Raha.

Following the shocking attack on Saif Ali Khan at his residence earlier this year, Bollywood power couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have requested the paparazzi to refrain from photographing their daughter, Raha. The actors made their appeal during an informal interaction with the media, held just days before Alia’s birthday on March 15.
Ranbir and Alia ask paps to refrain from photographing Raha
Ranbir explained why they wish to shield their two-year-old from the limelight. “It might sound like a privilege problem, but as parents, we are trying to protect our child, and we will do whatever we can.” He also pointed out how social media amplifies any content instantly. “Today, everybody who has a phone can post anything, and that can spread like wildfire. So that’s not in our control. You (paparazzi) are like our family, so we can only request you, and you can help us achieve that.”
Alia shared the reason behind their decision, expressing her deep concern for Raha's safety. "My worst nightmare is someone breaking in and taking Raha away," she said.
On considering legal action
When asked if he would take legal action against those who disregard their request, Ranbir dismissed the idea. “I was born in Mumbai, and you all are family; it’s not that we will take the legal route. Whenever we request you (media) or we give what you guys want (referring to pictures), we give our word to each other. It’s not like we will file a case,” he clarified.
However, Alia added that if repeated violations occur, they may have to reconsider their stance. “We don’t want to push for any action, but if someone is repeatedly not adhering, then there’s no option.”
When Alia's personal space was invaded
The couple officially introduced Raha to the media during the Kapoor family’s Christmas brunch two years ago. However, concerns over privacy have persisted. Ranbir also addressed an incident from 2023, when Alia’s personal space was invaded by photographers.
“Alia was on the balcony, and someone had clicked a photograph from someone else’s building, so that’s a wrong thing. It’s a line you can’t cross; you can’t shoot us in our house.” He acknowledged the public’s curiosity but emphasized boundaries. “I understand we are actors and there’s some kind of curiosity about an actor’s life, but there’s a line that you cannot cross. Beyond that, you all are respectful, and we both have known you for so many years.”
Kareena Kapoor Khan also asks paparwzzi to not click their children
The issue of celebrity children’s privacy has been a recurring debate, especially in the social media era. Ranbir’s cousin Kareena Kapoor Khan also urged the paparazzi to avoid photographing her sons, Taimur and Jeh, following the violent attack on Saif Ali Khan in January, where an intruder injured him multiple times with a knife.
During the media meet-and-greet, Alia also celebrated by cutting a birthday cake in their presence.
