Fashion designer Masaba Gupta and her husband, actor Satyadeep Misra, have named their daughter, Matara. On the occasion of Lohri, Masaba took to Instagram to introduce the name and its significance, accompanied by a never-seen-before photograph of their three-month-old daughter. 

Masaba's daughter's name and its meaning

The shared image offered a glimpse of the baby’s tiny hand resting on the bed, with Masaba’s hand placed gently beside it. A bangle on Masaba’s wrist displayed the name "MATARA" engraved on it. 

In the caption, Masaba also shared the meaning of the name and its significance. She wrote, "3 months with my Matara (tulip emoji). The name embodies the divine feminine energies of 9 Hindu goddesses, celebrating their strength and wisdom. Also, the star of our eyes (dizzy emoji)."

Masaba and Satyadeep welcomed their baby girl in October 2024. They had announced the joyful news through a joint Instagram post, sharing a glimpse of their daughter's tiny feet alongside an image of a white lotus and a moon on a blue background. The announcement read, "Our very special little girl arrived on a very special day. 11.10.2024. Masaba & Satyadeep." 

Masaba on her pregnancy

In an interview with Faye D'Souza last year, Masaba had recounted some of the unsolicited advice she received during her pregnancy. She said, “It happened to me just yesterday that somebody... told me, ‘You must eat a rasgulla every day’ because your kid has to turn out lighter than you... And then, 15 days before that, I was getting another pre-natal massage, and she said to me, ‘Aap na doodh liya karo. Saawla nahi hona chahiye.’ It was said with so much innocence. You have no choice – what can I do? Punch my masseuse? No.”

Masaba and Satyadeep tied the knot in January 2023 in an intimate court ceremony attended by close family members, including Masaba’s parents, veteran actress Neena Gupta and former cricketer Viv Richards. Both Masaba and Satyadeep have been married before; Masaba was previously married to producer Madhu Mantena, and Satyadeep to actress Aditi Rao Hydari.
