About Dubai rains

The United Arab Emirates experienced its heaviest rainfall on record on Tuesday. The heavy downpour led to flight cancellations and delays at the airport, leaving travelers stranded.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology, the eastern emirate of Al Ain experienced the highest level of rainfall, measuring 254.8 mm (10 inches) in less than 24 hours. This rainfall broke records, with the UAE witnessing over 100 mm, marking a 75-year record since rainfall measurements began in the country.

The government issued a red warning, leading to closures of offices, schools, and banks nationwide. The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Authority advised residents to remain indoors and park their vehicles in elevated areas to avoid flood-prone zones. They also recommended taking precautionary measures to minimize property damage from heavy rain and hailstorms.
