Former Union Minister Vishnu Deo Sai Sworn In As Chhattisgarh CM, 2 Deputies Also Take Oath

Vishnu Deo Sai took oath as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday at Science College ground in Raipur.

New Delhi: Vishnu Deo Sai took oath as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday at Science College ground in Raipur. The oath-taking ceremony was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Bharatiya Janata Party registered a thumping victory in the Hindi heartland state. Along with Sai, his two deputies Vijay Sharma and Arun Saw were also administered the oath.   

Ahead of the oath taking elaborate arrangements were made in the state for the swearing-in ceremony. The saffron party ended the days of suspense and picked new CMs in both states.

In Chhattisgarh, the saffron party defeated Congress and returned to power in the state. In the 90-member state Assembly, the BJP crossed the majority mark by securing 54 seats and the Congress came a distant second with 35 seats. The Assembly elections were held in two phases on November 7 and 17.

Ahead of swearing-in, Sai offered prayers at the Jagannath temple in Raipur and also paid tributes to freedom fighter Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by garlanding their statues at different places, news agency PTI reported.

He performed customary rituals at the temple and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in Chhattisgarh, a statement issued by the state public relations department said.
