‘Islamisation Of India’: UP CM Yogi Slams Congress Over Karnataka Govt's Move To Grant OBC Status To Muslims

After Congress's Karnataka government granted OBC status to Muslims in the state, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that the decision was very "unfortunate". Read on to know more.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday alleged that the Congress is harbouring intentions to undermine reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) as guaranteed under the Constitution. His statement came after the Karnataka government included all castes and communities of Muslims in the state in the list of OBCs.

Calling the whole process part of “despicable attempts at Islamisation of India and pushing it towards division”, Yogi alleged that when the UPA Government came to power, it made such attempts at that time too.

Yogi said, “Congress' statement is very unfortunate. This is a part of despicable attempts at Islamisation of India and pushing it towards divisions. When the UPA Government came to power, it made such attempts at that time too. At that time too BJP had carried out a massive agitation.”

“So, be it Justice Verma committee report or Sachar Committee Report - they were all attempts by Congress to loot the reservation of OBCs, SCs, STs. PM Modi has drawn the nation's attention towards these issues.,” the UP CM said.

“You saw the Congress Government in Karnataka's stand where they said that they will provide 32% reservation to Muslims in the state. What is this? The truth is coming out. These show that their intentions towards the country are not good. Country and the public will have to be alert,” he added.

Congress Is ‘Scaring People’: Giriraj Singh

Echoing similar sentiments to that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party, Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate from Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur constituency Giriraj Singh on Thursday said that Congress has stepped down to "shallow" political tactics. The Union Minister alleged that the grand old party is “scaring people” and if voted to power “they will take away women's property and even ‘Mangalsutra’”.

"Congress is scaring people by saying that when their government comes to power, then they will take away the women's property and even 'Mangalsutra," he told reporters.

The ‘Mangalsutra’ row emerged after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, earlier this week, while addressing a poll rally in Rajasthan said that the Congress would even steal the gold and "mangalsutra" of women if voted to power.

In his speech, the PM had alleged that the grand old party would redistribute people's hard-earned money and valuables to "infiltrators" and "those who have more children", going on to name the Muslim community.
