'Madhya Pradesh Govt Gave Only 21 Jobs In 3 Years': Priyanka Gandhi's Swipe At CM Shivraj Chouhan

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi attacked the BJP over a range of issues including OPS, women's reservation and caste census during her rally in MP's Damoh.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday went all guns blazing at rival Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh. Labelling the CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government in the state as a "poor job creator", she claimed that only 21 jobs were given by the state government in the last three years, despite being in power for "18 years". She also came down heavily on the saffron party over the issues of caste census, women's reservation and the old pension scheme.

"The Madhya Pradesh government has given just 21 jobs in the last 3 years. It is a sad situation that the state government which has been in power for the past 18 years, is such a poor job creator," the Congress general secretary said at a public rally in Damoh.

She said that various posts including that of doctors are lying empty in the state while eligible and deserving candidates are waiting for the government to take steps.

Addressing the issue of the old pension scheme, Priyanka said that employees are demanding the same and that it was their right as they "have served the country all your life".

"But Modi government says – there is no money for this. If there is no money... then where does the money come from to forgive thousands of crores of rupees of industrialists like Adani?" she said.

'BJP Silent On Caste Census', 'Misleading On Women's Reservation'

Priyanka also spoke on caste census, a matter the party has made a focus for the state as well as Lok Sabha elections. She said the BJP was silent on caste census whereas her party "gave reservation to women, hence today women are represented in every village".

"Modi government is just creating events regarding women's reservation. They are misleading the country that we have given reservation to women," Priyanka said.

She added that the women's reservation "will not be implemented" in the coming ten years.

Madhya Pradesh will vote on November 17 with Congress eyeing to replace the ruling BJP. The results will be announced on December 3.
