West Bengal: Stone Pelting At Mithun Chakraborty's Rally In Midnapore, BJP Accuses TMC
A police officer confirmed that as soon as the roadshow approached Shekhpura More, some bystanders threw stones and bottles at the actor-turned-BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty's rally.
A case of stone-pelting was reported in Midnapore in West Bengal where a roadshow by actor-turned-BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty came under attack as some individuals started throwing stones at the BJP leader's cavalcade.
BJP candidate for the Midnapore Lok Sabha seat, Agnimitra Paul, accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers of throwing glass bottles and stones at the procession, a claim that the ruling party denied.
Both Chakraborty and Paul were unharmed during this incident.
The roadshow began at Collectorate More and was heading towards Keranitola, with hundreds of BJP supporters chanting slogans, while Chakraborty and Paul waved to the crowd from a vehicle.

However, as the roadshow approached Shekhpura More, some bystanders threw stones and bottles at the rally. BJP members then charged at them, resulting in a fight. Fortunately, the situation was swiftly brought under control, a police officer said, PTI reported.
"The TMC is scared of swelling support for the BJP and is resorting to such hooliganism. They can stoop so low as to disrespect a legendary actor like Mithun Chakraborty," Paul said.
She said that attendees of the TMC meeting on a street corner were the ones who started the violence. "Such conduct by those who tried to create chaos in a peaceful convoy is despicable," Paul also said.
